Find Out What’s Stylin’ for Spring Fashion 2009
As Arizona quickly heats up for the spring, you’re probably shedding your winter clothes, wondering what to wear next. Luckily, there are always a few fashion rules that change with the seasons, giving you a good idea of what to wear, and what to stuff in the back of your closet. Although trendsetters usually watch the runways for ideas, there are always plenty of clothes showcased on models that no one would be caught dead wearing in the real world. The best idea is to observe what you see on the runways, take note of the general look, and make it your own. Consider the new fashion trends for spring 2009, and find ways to make the look comfortable for you.
Stand Out During Spring
If you’ve always secretly loved hot pink but have been too fashion-conscious to wear it in public, now is your time to shine. That’s right-magenta is now the color of choice on the runway. No, you don’t have to exactly copy the models, donning nothing more than a horridly hot pink bodysuit with magenta wings, or some other crazy concoction. However, now you can get away with wearing a cute magenta dress or shirt (though magenta-colored jeans are still a ways off from being cool). Even if you don’t like pink, spring’s trends should have you rejoicing, as even a splash of some neon color is considered awesome. In fact, brightly-colored patterns matched with different patterns of similar colors are even acceptable. This spring is turning out to be a fun, if not kooky, season for style. Take advantage of this trend, as summer will likely change it.
Casual is Cool
Give your low-rise jeans a rest this year and swap them out for relaxed-fit jeans. Celebrities like Katie Holmes have been spotted wearing comfortable, “boyfriend” jeans that are loose at the hips, and even rolled at the ankle. Diane von Furstenberg and Anna Sui have taken this casual trend and run with it, allowing hippie-inspired, bohemian dresses that flow to make a comeback. Clearly, comfort is key when it comes to spring fashion this year.
Bigger is Better in 2009
If you’re constantly making fun of your friend for her oversized, flashy purse, you should stop. She might be on to something, at least this year. Giant bags with bold patterns are now considered cool. Just make sure your new purse matches your new patterned clothes. Considering that large accessories are all in-style this year, it should be easy for everything on you to match. Giant bangles are once again trendy, as are large necklaces. Just slap on a showy pendant and several plastic bangles that match your oversized bag, and your accessories will be stylin’ this year. Remember: if it’s big and somewhat flamboyant, it will work for spring 2009.
